FATE OF THE FURIOUS REVIEW (SPOILER FREE)

FATE OF THE FURIOUS

After the death of Paul Walker during the filming of the 7th installment (Furious 7) you would think the Furious franchise would end there. Would we see an 8th film or would we get three more out of the series that has been going furious since 2001? With the 8th installment the series looks like it is not slowing down.

The Fate of the Furious is the 8th installment of the franchise stars Vin Diesel,Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson,Jason Statham,Michelle Rodriguez,Tyrese Gibson,Ludacris,Charlize Theron,Kurt Russell and Scott Eastwood.

The 8th film start off with Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) enjoying a get away in Cuba. While in Cuba, Dom is approached by a mysterious women named Cipher (Charlize Theron). Cipher wants Dom to work for her. Dom being Dom, refuses but with some persuasion from Cipher Dom has no choice. Dom goes against his code of family turns his back on his family and works for Cipher.

While on a mission with the rest the team (family), Dom turns his back on the team and takes off to meet Cipher. Hobbs ( Dwayne Johnson) gets caught and is put behind bars in a cell across Deckard (Jason Statham). Hobbs and Dekard has some verbal exchanges before getting busted out by Mr. Nobody(Kurt Russell and Little Nobody(Scott Eastwood). Mr.Nobody gets Dom's team together with Hobbs leading the charge to bring Dom to justice.

One thing you can say about the Fast franchise over the last few films is that the team is a family with Dom leading them. Dom is the center piece of the team that keeps everyone together. The rest follow and bring what they know and what they can do for the team. Everyone shines in this film with everyone having their moments.

You have Roman(Tyrese Gibson) and Tej(Ludacris) going at it for the attention of Ramsey(Nathalie Emmanuel). Ramsey was the one that was rescued in the last film and has joined the group. Then you have Hobbs and Deckard exchanging words back and fourth during the prison scene which I thought was funny. In the trailer they didn't show all of the verbal exchanges as both played off from each other with some comic relief. Little Nobody(Scott Eastwood) gets poked at for being a rookie by Hobbs,Roman which brings some funny moments during the film.

Cipher(Charlize Theron) was a manipulative villain that gets what she wants from the person she has doing her dirty work with some leverage. I really thought going into this I would know what leverage she would have on Dom to get him to do the things for her against his will. I was wrong with the leverage she has that was a major twist that I didn't see coming as the rest of everyone walking into this film. Cipher's actions later on in the film made me really hope that she gets it before the film's end.

The action in Fate is nothing short that you would expect when you watch the later installments of the franchise. The action takes place in various locations with racing in Cuba to hacker cars being controlled in New York with demolition of cars in Berlin to destructive gun fire and rockets blasting in Russia. Only one would ask where else will the action take place before this movie ends?

With the plot twist mention early, it is not the only surprise you see as the story behind this one connects the 6th and 7th films and with that, you want more even after this film ends.

If you have or are a fan of the franchise then you will not be disappointed walking out of this film. Just a reminder that you don't have to sit and wait for a end credit scene because there isn't one. There will be a 9th and 10th film with the 9th film slated for 2019. After this film it is uncertain what direction Universal will go with the next two films to wrap up the franchise.

Fate of the Furious 7/10 score

PROS- Interaction of the cast playing off of each other for some comic relief. The action sequence and the plot twist that you didn't see coming with surprises. A couple of mentions of Brian O'Connor and Mia.

CONS- Some scenes just dragged a little with one scene with Hobbs that could have been in a Disney movie and not in a Fast & Furious movie. It just killed me a little that took away some of the bad ass Hobbs that I enjoyed in the franchise.

Next week on The Everett Lee Show podcast I will have none other then Jeff Hakojarvi of Hakojarvi Photography-Fine Art. I've known Jeff for many years and have known him for a "Fine Eye," in photography.

Jeff runs Hakojarvi Photography-Fine Art for quit some time and has taken many photography pices all over the local area here in Daytona Beach. Jeff is a local native of the area with a camera in hand taking some of the most awesome pictures I've seen. Jeff comes from a family of talent and that has transition into what he does best. The next time your out and about in the area and notice a photo shoot or a random guy pointing a camera around the surroundings it might just be Jeff capturing nature or something he sees that the naked eye don't.

EVERETT LEE SHOW DRAFT TUESDAY SEGMENT

Here at the Everett Lee Show podcast two months ago, I introduced a new segment called "Draft Tuesday." I wanted to introduce a segment that would be entertaining and show off different brews that are out in the market that would give fans a wide variety of brews to choose from. A month in doing this segment has been really satisfying and entertaining at the same time.

The segment has taken to a new level with the introduction of viewing me Everett Lee on Tuesday's "LIVE STREAM" on the official Facebook Page facebook.com/theeverettlee to see both myself (Everett Lee) and whoever stops by get a little tipsy tasting different brews and choosing a brew for the week. However,it has had a little backlash on me.

Don't get me wrong, Draft Tuesday segment is NOT going anywhere. I first and foremost want to thank the brewing companies that have reached out to me and followed me on social media and have gave me some feed back on what I'm doing each Tuesday. It is awesome to see and read what I'm getting in return for the time I put into this. I have now decided that Draft Tuesday will be only once a month.

I hate doing this but it has put a strain on my wallet. I took a look and added up the amount of money that was spent on doing this segment and I could not believe my eyes. Also most of the brew that is left over from the segment is either chugged down or poured out. I hate seeing a brew wasted by not finishing it or just pouring it out. I would rather see it be drank,on that note.

Draft Tuesday will be at the beginning of the month for a pick of the month for The Everett Lee Show. When you view the LIVE STREAM of The Everett Lee Show I will have the pick of the month right there with me so you can see what it is and for your choosing, you can pick up the pick of the month for your own to try out.

Be sure to look for Draft Tuesday to change it up a bit each month with some ideals being tossed around. Look for a pick each month and see what is chosen for the pick of the month here

http://everettshangout.com/Draft-Tuesday/

Tune in each week and look for at the beginning of the month for Draft Tuesday Pick Of The Month here at The Everett Lee Show podcast.

EVERETT LEE SHOW UPDATE

It's been quit some time since I've wrote a blog post or even took a look at my blog. I've been dealing with since January 1st of this year the loss of my son and my mother-in-law. My wife and I have cried and embraced one another through this hard time. I've been dealing with how to cope with this tragic and sudden loss of what could have been my future to pass on all that I've done in my life. I'm not giving up and my wife isn't either. We will have kids no matter if it takes me to the point where I'm drawing social security, haha, haha.

I've taken the last almost two weeks to get away with my wife and we finally last week layed our son and my mother-in-law to rest back in my wife's home in New Jersey. A heavy weight has been lifted from my shoulders knowing that they are buried with my wife's father and her brother and I have slept better in the last few days then I have at the beginning of the year. Taking that trip up there was a challenge with maybe one person that didn't want to give me the opportunity to do this and it pisses me off that they are selfish and when the day comes for them to be in my shoes, I hope they understand and feel what I've went through. (That is another story for another time.)

As I traveled back home I did quit a bit of thinking. I looked at where I'm at and where I need to go with what I've been doing in the last two years with this podcast. I have not made one cent from doing this in my time that I've put in with getting the opportunity to talk with amazing people from all over. I want to continue with that as I want to add and network with more people that podcast as I do. I use twitter more then I do facebook and it has been really helpful with connecting with people. I don't post or share from my Everett Lee Show facebook page on to my personal profile because it's not been working as I thought it would.

The only thing and the only responce I get from my personal profile is if I post something up like I tore my ACL running to the bathroom to take a shit. I get likes and comments and when I change my profile pic to something. When I repost a podcast, nothing. It pisses me off and I'm done with that. I just stick to my Everett Lee Show page to post stuff and I thank those who see it, comment and like on the content. The other half don't give me anything and it's sad.

The last month or so, I've added merchandise to my site and it hasn't taken off like I thought. It kills me inside that I put the time and work in to give something to people who follow me and the podcast to be able to support and show that I am here. I give back with this and it has made me nothing either. It kills me and eats me up inside that I just want to punch a hole in the wall and yell to the top of my lungs with rage. The only thing I would get out of that is I wouldn't be able to talk and my hand would hurt like hell with pain. That wouldn't solve anything. The thought that just crossed my mind right now is how many people will read this rant I'm typing away with bitching about not making any kind of profit that I want to support my wife and my family with so I can walk away from the other job that I do that I don't see doing the rest of my life.

I want the best for my family and now I'm pissed and ready to do something about it.

I'm taking the fucking bull by the horns and I'm riding it till the son of a bitch falls to it's knees. Here is the update in the title post I'm getting at now.

Lets take a shot at entertainment and put my own spin on it. The thought of going LIVE 5 days a week is ringing in my head. LIVE STREAM, Periscope come to mind to have interaction with people. More guest interviews with Q and A during LIVE STREAMING. A hr or couple of hrs of the Everett Lee Show during the week. Still looking for a Co-Host or two to jump right in with me and take an journey to parts unknown. Contact me through my email (everetthangout@gmail.com SubjectLine: COHOST) if your interested in being a part of this.

I will be later in the week re-doing my site and making some changes that I see need to be done. This blog needs some changes too since I'm typing about it as well. I spent a few hours just the other day redoing Everett's Hangout Studios,I like the new structure of moving this room around and making some changes.

That is much it for now. I want to throw this out while I'm thinking about it. If you haven't picked my book, Down and Bound: A Short Story Please pick it up. I'm working on a follow up to it and will be reissuing the first one when the follow up is close to being released.

You can get it here at this link,

ARROW SEASON 4 EPISODE 13, "SINS OF THE FATHER," PREVIEW

The CW has released the Official description on the next upcoming episode of Arrow titled, "Sins Of The Father," here is the description,

Oliver (Stephen Amell) receives an offer from Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) that is hard to refuse. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) continues to battle the blood lust, Malcolm (John Barrowman) steps in to help his daughter, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) has a heart to heart talk with Nyssa. Gordon Verheul directed the episode written by Ben Sokolowski & Keto Shimizu.

Looks like Oliver will be stuck between a rock and a hard place on this episode as he must make a bold choice on weather or not to kill Malcolm or save Thea. Speaking of Thea, her health is going south and hopfully "Team Arrow," will come up with some kind of problem solver since they will be facing "The League Of Assassins" and dealing with Nyssa.

From last weeks episode we saw the villain called "The Calculator," who was trying to take out Star City as he was stopped by "Team Arrow" with Roy Harper returning to help out. Nothing prepared us for the twist that had everyone including me finding out that "The Calculator" is none other then Felicity Smoak's father. Will we find out why he's been out of the picture in her life? Why is he back? We'll have to wait for next weeks episode to find all of this out with more as well.

THE FLASH SEASON 2 "WELCOME TO EARTH-2" PREVIEW

In the upcoming next episode of The Flash Season 2 Barry,Cisco and Dr.Wells travel to "Earth-2" in attempts to rescue Dr.Wells daughter Jesse. Jay will stay behind at Star Labs while the trio travels over to the other side in a forty-eight hour time period. If the trio don't make it back then Jay will have to close the breach back on "Earth-1."

Back on "Earth-1," Jay will have to take on the role of The Flash with a new threat called Geomancer (guest staring Adam Stafford) wrecking havoc in Central City. We'll see how Jay will take on this new threat since Jay doesn't have any powers, this will be interesting to see.

On "Earth-2," Dr.Wells told Barry and Cisco that they will see things that look familiar but are not and don't get sucked in by emotion too. Barry will run into his "Earth-2" doppelganger as well as "Earth-2" gunslinging Iris and Joe,Barry will be stun with what he sees.

Nothing will prepare Barry as he will meet Killer Frost and Deathstorm who are "Earth-2" Caitlin Snow and Ronnie Raymond who are nothing like there "Earth-1" doppelganger as they crash Iris and Barry's party.

This looks like it will be a two part episode story and will conclude the following week after. I'm excited for this episode from the hype and buzz on the net about Team Flash going into a new part of the universe that looks familiar but in a lot of ways will not.

DOWN AND BOUND, A SHORT STORY

I finally have published my first short story titled, "Down and Bound." I happy that this story is now out and will soon be available for purchase on amazon.com website. I put a lot of time into finally getting this done. I've been wanting to get this done for some time now, and with the hours I put into getting a paperback edition made it was hell and worth it. I know in some ways this is not your typical book that gets published but, I don't care. I like to do things a certain way and I like sharing with people stuff like this. I believe that everyone has a story to share with others and that story telling is one of the oldest ways of bringing people together for better or worst.

I would like to give a short run down of how this came about.

Back in 2011, I was looking over a story that I wrote back in early 2000 when I was about 22yrs old. I wanted to get this published and didn't know how to go about it at the time. I sat or am still sitting on that story and want to make changes to it so when I decide when I want it published, I will go ahead and get it out there. As I sat at my laptop one night updating my blog here, I fell asleep and had a crazy dream. I woke up and this story came to me. I started typing away at it and ended up writing chapters after chapters. I then put it all together and this is the result. When you look at the chapters some are short and some are long. I decided to just leave it that way with wanting it to be different from the rest. I like to keep myself separate from the pack, I'm mostly a loner anyway, have and still am in most ways to this day.

I based some of the stuff that I have came across in my life with good and bad. I took bits and pieces from my life with some exaggeration with some fiction stuff to come up with some interesting reads on each chapter of this story. I hope this short story gets picked up and hope one or many people will enjoy this. I made a fun and short read for the person waiting to kill some time when they don't have anything to read or do.

In 2016, look for a follow up to this and a couple of new short stories as well.

Look for a e-book version sometime at the begining of 2016 as well and on amazon.com when it comes available.

SUNDAY BLOGDAY: MUSICIANS OF THE 90'S WE HAVE LOST

First off let me say this blog is about what I know from my point of view from growing up in the 90's. If I forgot to mention any artist beside the ones in this post I'm sorry because I'm thinking of this from the top of my head. I just want to share my thoughts and share them for my Sunday Blogday post.

Scott Weiland- Stone Temple Pilots

After hearing and reading about the passing of Scott Weiland it hit me kind of hard. Over the years I enjoyed bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Nirvana and later on in my life discovering Mother Love Bone. Each these bands have made a mark in music with their influence on people and generations from the 90's. These bands with their amazing singers and band mates influenced today's music and it looks like they will keep on for generations to come. I know when my son is older I will share with him the music and influences that inspire me and still make an impact on me to this day.

Layne Staley- Alice In Chains

Around 1991,when I was about 13 I discovered Nirvana. A friend that lived down the street from me introduced me to them.I remember the first time I heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit," my friend and I was alone in his room with his parents gone. We cranked the stereo and trashed his room.We just messed up his room bad and it was fun because we felt like we were set free and being young we didn't know any better. He got grounded and his ass got tore up and I wasn't allowed to come over for some time.

I became and still to this day a fan of Nirvana. It was such a tragic to loss Kurt Cobain in 1994 right around the time that the "Grunge Scene," was slightly slowing down. To this day Nirvana still sells albums even 21yrs after his passing just like The Beatles,Jimi Hendrix and The Doors to name off the top of my head. For those who got to see this band live and had some kind of interaction with Nirvana, my hats off to you.

Kurt Cobain- Nirvana

Over the years and to this day you can still hear Blind Melon's "No Rain," being played on radio or on music apps such as iheart. I still sing along to this tune when I hear it. I enjoyed this song when it came out in 1992 and when I was hanging out with friends and it would come on, we would get into singing it and having a good time. This was the only hit as far as I know of with this band. Shannon Hoon passed away in 1995 around the time Blind Melon was on tour promoting it's second album, "Soup."

Shannon Hoon- Blind Melon

Alice In Chains has and still to this day to me will always rock. I know they got back together a few years ago with a new lead singer and are still touring and selling albums just like they did back in the 90's. Hell,Alice's last studio album "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here," peaked at number 2 on the Billboard charts. In the 90's Alice In Chains released some really good albums. I even still have somewhere packed away my jean jacket I wore in high school with the logo that was on the inside of the "Dirt," album that I drew with a sharpie marker. I loved how they songs and the lyrics are put together and how Layne Staley voice sounds over Jerry Cantrell's guitar. I was sadden by his passing in 2002 hoping that Alice In Chains would get a new album out since at that time they haven't in a long time. I love the side projects that the members of the band were in. I loved Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff he put out as well as "Mad Season," with Layne and members of Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees which makes me not to forget Andy Wood.

Andy Wood- Mother Love Bone

Mother Love Bone was grunge before grunge was grunge. Mother Love Bone created a following before mainstream took noticed.Andy Wood passed away before we got to see the potential of what a band like Mother Love Bone would have done when they really did hit the mainstream music scene. With the loss of Andy Wood in 1990 shortly before the groups second album "Apple," was released Mother Love Bone disbanded. Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard with Mike McCready and Chris Cornell of "Soundgarden," got together in the studio to record a tribute album for Andy Wood. It happen that Eddie Vedder sat in on the recording of "Temple Of The Dog," and appeared on the album as well. Out of Andy Wood's death one of most popular bands in the 90's came about called "Pearl Jam," with Eddie Vedder,Jeff Ament,Mike McCready, and Stone Gossard.

I remember stumbling across Mother Love Bone later on in my life. I really enjoy the music and loved to rock out with songs such as "Stardog Champion," and "Stargazer." I every now and then would hear a Mother Love Bone song when I am listening to my iheart app on my phone whatever it is that I'm doing and just getting into the song that is played.

Stone Temple Pilots will always have a spot in my life no matter what. I enjoy the album "Core," to this day and remember seeing and enjoying songs like "Plush," "Creep," Interstate Love Song." Back when Mtv would play music videos and not the garbage that it shows today, I would stay up on the weekends to watch Alternative Nation or 120mins and catch any Stone Temple Pilots they would play.

It sucks that we will never get to have a Stone Temple Pilots reunion with all members and not someone filling on on vocals for Scott Weiland. We will miss Scott and his voice and the rest of the world will miss him as well. We will also miss the artist that I mention in this blog post as well.

SUNDAY BLOGDAY : ARROW/FLASH TV SHOW

This will be a new start of a new blog post that I want to start each week on Sunday's. There is "Fun Day Sunday," why the hell not start Sunday Blogday? This blog post each week will consist of what I've been watching or what I've been listening to and so fourth. So lets kick this off and jump straight into what I've been really watching as of late.

ARROW/FLASH TV SHOW

When Arrow premiered on The CW network I had to check out what they were going to do with DC's Green Arrow. I was happy with how The Green Arrow was per-traded on Smallville a few years back. When I heard they were going to give this character his own show I had to check it out and see if this would be a hit or miss for me. If the bottom of the latter was a miss I could always go back to my Smallville DVD collection of all ten seasons I have an remember how the Green Arrow would forever be. After watch the first few episodes of the first season I was hooked.

I loved in the first season how Oliver Queen was dark at times with still on his own one man mission to clean up Star City and do the wrongs of his father. I was impressed with how Arrow took cheesy comic book villains and turned them into bad ass pissed off persona's. I liked the flash backs that showed how Oliver tried to survive on an isolated island from a ship wreak for five years. I like how it builds to what is happening in the present moment on how he dealt with what bad guy he was up against or how to help the ones around him. This still goes on from back and fourth in it's fourth season. To me it don't look like Arrow will be slowing down anytime soon.

With Oliver Queen battling the likes of major villains and trying to maintain his sanity with all around him, he does find time for some romance with Felicity and letting people in must really hit hard with someone who just wants to see the light of day for a city that is crime free from all of those who think they can just roll up in his city and make it there playground are in store when the Green Arrow stops there plans of taking over.

Each season so far has shown Oliver Queen evolve as well as the supporting cast become more then just a stand in to help with a punch or kick to the bad guys when the going gets tough. I love how each character has there moment in the bliss of Oliver and how he is learning that it's not bad to have someone watching your back. I am looking forward to seeing where the story will go when the set up for the next spin off takes off. I think Oliver will have his match this season with Damion Dark as he has so far not faced a foe like him. Green Arrow will come out on top as always but seeing the journey is the fun part taking in the good and the bad that happen to defeat the greater bad and have the greater good come out on top. Unless they leave it on a cliff hanger then I'll just count down the days for when it comes back on and see what happens next.

THE FLASH

When they introduced Barry Alen who becomes The Flash, I was exited to see that Arrow will finally get it's own spin-off. I didn't know how they could pull off a show with The Flash coming out of the dark world of Arrow. After watching the first few episodes of the first season I knew that they would have to go this route with The Flash, why would they not?

What I'm talking about is how The Flash's Barry Allen is light hearted with being given powers to do right for his city. Barry is opisite of Oliver Queen's dark persona on Arrow with Barry's clean cut do what is best. Now there was times where Barry wasn't or had any problems getting his hand dirty with what was going on with The Reverse Flash to trying to clear his dad of a crime he did not comment. Barry's romance is more of a puppy love for Iris then of Qliver Queen's lust of I must have with Felicity on Arrow.

On The Flash they didn't waste anytime with having Iris find out that Barry was The Flash unlike waiting for Lana Lang to find out Clark Kent on Smalliville's sixth season that he had powers. I like the build up then just going with yes I have powers and I'm The Flash. I know it took to about the second season for Laural to find out Oliver was the Arrow. With Barry going back and fourth on how he feels with Iris he makes time with his team to take out bad guys and find out the darker truth behind what went down on season one of The Flash.

Now with season two underway it looks like they are taking a dip here and there for some tid bits of dark happenings on the show. I love how Barry is growing into being The Flash with learning new ways for his powers. Barry tried out some things with this season's villain Zoom. This will be a challenge for him to take out someone who moves a little bit faster then him. Looking forward with this story line for the season and how the cross over with The Flash and Arrow sets up the next spin-off called Legends Of Tomorrow.

Take supporting heroes and villains from both Arrow and The Flash and throw them together and what do you get? You get Legends Of Tomorrow. This will be interesting seeing how this group will work together on being the heroes that will be talked about in the future as they take there course of action and stop whatever evil lurks towards them.

My favorite supporting characters from Arrow and The Flash as well as my favorite villains from The Flash team up in a new series looks awesome. Look forward to seeing this later next year.

BOTTOM LINE

I enjoy watching both these shows each week when they come on and will be watching Legends Of Tomorrow next year. For quit sometime I stopped watching Arrow when it got to it's mid-season point back in season two and never could get caught up. Thank god that netflix put up Arrow and The Flash as I jumped back in and got caught up and now glad that I did. If you haven't seen or you are looking for something new to watch then I suggest that you give this a try, you will not be disappointed with two good shows with good leads and a good supporting cast that makes the middle of the week worth wild.

If you haven't picked up Arrow season 1-3 or The Flash season 1, then get them here.
